Ever heard the phrase “out of the box?” Well, if you want to break-through to another level of living healthy, wealthy, and wise, you are going to have to choose to “get out of the box” and get into the right circles!
Sound crazy? I know this: it can’t be as crazy as millions, no, make that billions of people fueling the multi-trillion dollar diet industry and getting larger and unhealthier by the month! People across the globe are sick and tired, “fat, sick, and nearly dead,” and continually living in lack because of medical expenses or losing their mind inch by inch as life rapidly, not slowly, slips away. It’s time to get out of the box and change things up so you have a different result… a better result!
With more than 32 years in clinical practice, multiplied thousands of patients, and nearly twelve years in wellness coaching, we’ve learned a few keys. Now, thanks to the internet, we can share these keys with more people! Here’s something inspirational that flows in line with my point:
Matthew 7:24-26 (NIV)
Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.
I am blessed to be able to say that my father, who retired this year at the age of 75, is known for being at the top of the list of Arkansas’ most seasoned and respected real estate appraisers. For many years he was also a homebuilder. Before entering the healthcare field, I had the privilege of working with him and studying his profession from the inside out. We inspected many houses during my five years with him but one in particular came to mind today as I sat down to write something that might inspire you in your health journey.
We went one time to inspect a lot where new construction was beginning on a single-story starter home. We had the house plans, the plot plan, the survey, etc. As we drove up, I learned one of the greatest lessons in home building: start with a firm foundation. Here sat a crew beginning to pour foundation right on top of the ground. Now, I don’t know if you know it or not, but wise builders don’t do that! My dad taught me that day that one was supposed to dig down a certain depth and lay “footings” which stabilize the foundation to prevent it from shifting, settling, cracking, etc. over time. He explained that one poured on top of the ground like this one, well, was headed for trouble from day one and the ultimate cost would be uncountable over the years. (That proposed house, by the way, did not pass the first inspection!)
I think I found the description of this builder in Deuteronomy 32:28-30 (NIV), “They are a nation without sense, there is no discernment in them. If only they were wise and would understand this and discern what their end will be!” In starting that house off on the wrong footing, so to speak, the builder had no thought or cares for what the end would be.
The good news is that we don’t have to go the way of the unwise builder, not in our house, not in our body, not in any area of our lives. The first part of Psalm 127:1 (KJV) says, “…except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it”. That is the key to our success today.
I told you I had keys for you! That’s another thing my father taught me. He used to say, “You’ve got the keys, drive it like you own it.” (And he was not speaking of my driving his car either! But that’s a story for another day!)
So what does this have to do with getting into the right “circles”? Every person is made spirit, soul, and body. Those parts are like the circles of our logo at the top of the page. Envision if you will, if you made an action in one circle, how it relates to each of the other two? You cannot have an action in any one of the three without a re-action in the two others. What you do in the body affects the soul (mind, will, and emotions), and also your spirit. What you think affects your body and your spirit. See what I mean?
Get out of the box of traditional thinking about what is and isn’t healthy (because it is not working anyway!) and get into the right “circles.” Get a new circle of friends, like those on our Facebook forum and those in the coaching groups! Get a new circle or cycle of health started by implementing some new habits. Every month you continue good health habits, the momentum of your health circle or cycle grows stronger and stronger, living longer and longer, full of life for your full number of years!
When it comes to losing weight or gaining weight, getting healthy, recovering from disease, disaster, or destruction, the master key is to learn to use wisdom! Let God show you how to build the house on a firm foundation, according to His design plan!
You can start by doing two things:
1. Ask for wisdom and understanding. The following verses tell us that God will give us, put into us, wisdom and understanding to do what He desires:
“Then wrought Bezaleel and Aholiab, and every wise hearted man, in whom the Lord put wisdom and understanding to know how to work all manner of work for the service of the sanctuary, according to all that the Lord had commanded.” (Exodus 36:1 KJV) The underlined emphasis is mine and there is also this verse: “Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and understanding heart;” (1 Kings 3:12 KJV)
2. Seven is a number of completion. If you desire to walk in complete health (and, yes, it is possible), ask for our free report (top right-hand corner) so you can learn the 7 Essentials for Health. Your body works by design, not by denial or default. When we put into practice these 7 key essentials, we are like the wise man, building our house – our body – on a solid foundation.
Know someone who is struggling with a health problem or two?
Of course you do! Please share this with them.
It’s your health. It’s your choice. Did you learn anything?

This is so true; what you think affects you in many ways and in all areas. It reminds me of something I heard Joyce Meyers talking about when she said you have to think about what you are thinking about. You cannot just allow thoughts to come and take over….and I think she also said something like where your thoughts go, the body follows.
i love your blog, i have it in my rss reader and always like new things coming up from it.
day 2!! done, yay! thank you for all the encouraging posts!! this is one of my favorite things you teach. that choices in one area consequently affect and effect the other two, spirit, soul and body. it is by far one of the greatest things to know and continue to learn! it has helped me connect the dots so to speak and learn and catch what i don't care for or is ill working by choosing differently! and likewise with what brings results that are favorable and i like! it stops the "wondering why" when you learn that its all connected. goes from seemingly abstract to "oh, i know what caused that!" 🙂 understanding choices cuts to the chase of things, cause and effect… soooo extremely grateful!!
