Top 5 Emotions
That Drain Your Health
by Michelle M. Pearson
What does pH have to do with our “high five” emotions of the day? We call pH “your potential for health”. Emotions, or make that strong negative emotions, are the #1 thing that depletes your resources and destroys one’s potential for health. And some emotions are way more destructive than others!
Stressful emotions place an increased demand on important resources and are capable of utilizing the body’s whole storage of available resources in a matter of hours, perhaps minutes. This demand leaves even the body’s most basic functions at risk or in peril. (Check out our article about Zinc and the anger connection!)
No matter where you fit right now on the health or disease scale, the following five things are among the HIGH FIVE patterns of response that must be replaced by new mindsets and actions if you desire to live a long, strong, fruitful life:
#1 UNFORGIVENESS –
The most powerful form of destructive emotion that we are capable of. Unforgiveness eats away at the body, literally, like cancer, from the inside out. It’s only antidote is forgiveness, the complete release of debt toward us.
#2 BITTERNESS –
Often rooted in unforgivness, bitterness rots the bones. In addition, the body’s chemical reaction to hardness of heart, bitter buried emotions, and walled off boundaries has proven to contribute to (if not cause) arterial disease, heart disease, and other vascular illness. Heart, brain, and reproductive related. Selah.
#3 RESENTFULNESS –
Resentfulness takes root from pride and covetousness when one’s heart believes they are owed or due something from another that has not been delivered. It keeps one’s heart and mind on the past, thereby robbing all joy and zest for life, all peace that produces health and healthy happy hormones. Resentment is also a sibling of ungratefulness.
#4 GRIEF –
Grief is often thought to be unavoidable and a natural response to loss. While this may be true of temporary sadness, grief on the other hand, is an entirely destructive, consuming scourge. We were NEVER intended to experience grief. Because of sin entering in and separation from God, the first grief also entered in. Up until the time of Christ, no one was immune from grief’s deathly grasp.
But… after the resurrection of Christ, who carried our griefs and sorrows, and paid the price for reconciliation to a life free from grief, we no longer have to bear grief or the gripping killer dis-eases it has attached to it. (This is such a huge topic, we will write a separate article at another date to minister life and help in this area. Until then, be comforted in knowing God did not leave you without grace to keep you and He will send love and hope to your heart again.)
And finally, in our Top Five Emotions That Drain Your Health:
# 5 LYING –
OK So technically, lying is not an emotion, it is an action of your mind, will, AND emotions. But, it must be included in our Top 5 today because, after unforgiveness, it is perhaps the second most detrimental soulish action that literally destroys the physical body.
To lie, in any measure, is to voluntarily separate yourself from Truth and Light. Only in Truth and Light can you receive health and healing. To lie is to deliberately reject the very power that heals. It is the nature of your enemy, who comes to steal, kill, and destroy… and to lie is to willfully participate in and connect yourself to that nature.
Did you know that the physical body cannot lie? It’s goal is not health or disease, but it is to survive your choices. Choices that are lies or fool the body, result in dys-function and dis-ease. Choices that are in Truth, produce strength and health.
So, those are our Top 5 today. God really used this blog and our class on pH to shed more light in my life. While you were teaching, Michelle, the Lord spoke to my heart, "You don't forgive yourself for your disobediences, and you daily grieve over them." So now when I repent for harboring unforgiveness towards myself (AKA self-condemnation, and a horrible affront towards God's saving grace through Jeses), I also release the grief. I'm getting "lighter" every day–His light is making my spirit light!
Great article. I truly believe more and more the medical community will discover that emotions are directly linked to disease. The Lord is so wonderful, sometimes we can't forgive or release bitterness in our own power, but when we ask the Lord to help us, he always does, sometimes it's like an onion skin one layer at a time. We want to be over and done with it… but the Lord lets us take it slow and only lets us deal with what we can handle at that one time, little by little we are able to forgive and let go of the hurt. He is faithful.
I learned a long time ago to forgive even when I didn't "feel" like it because of how unforgiveness made me feel. I am convinced that is why so many people have heart (the physical one) disease today. I am certain that is why my dad and brother (3 1/2 yrs younger than I am) have both had open heart surgery – bitterness and unforgiveness. I choose to live differently.
I really enjoyed this on Monday nights lesson! thanks
Monday's webinar and this article have brought me renewed insight into the body/soul/spirit connection. Doesn't it make perfect sense that if we are primarily spirit beings, then there is a direct correlation between our spiritual health and our physical health? And that the spiritual health rules. Duh. Fix the spiritual end and the body will follow. Thank you all for that wonderful teaching that went far beyond any health seminar I have ever attended! Understanding the spiritual side of health IS the primary step in tackling the mountain.
Oh wow! That's alot of information. Thankful for God's love and healing power! And for Dr Ray and Michelle who bring these things to our attention.
Wow! I know from experience how negative emotions can make you feel physically ill. It is amazing how much they really affect your health and can bring on sickness and disease. Lord, thank You for bringing revelation and understanding, for helping us release and break free and for bringing us complete wholeness which was Your original design for us!!!!
Another great article–who knew emotions could mess with your health so much?
Years ago I read this statement:
"Resentment is a slow form of suicide."
How true! But you can add all of the emotions above to that statement, too. Fortunately, we can take advantage of the Truth of God's Word to receive healing and health, as you stated above. :o)
Also, if I had not been treated for years with a similar approach in testing the strength, I would have a hard time believing it. BUT IT'S TRUE – I know that from experience!!! I hope everyone trusts that this is truth. Amazing.
What an awesome video this week combined with this article! I found myself confessing all over the place! I needed the visual to see just how the emotions affect the body so quickly. It's one thing to confess in the spiritual realm but to see how the body works with that is just – well, awesome!!
yea, well the others can't either and still be healthy. It's all in what or better… Who you love more than the cookie. 🙂 Besides, who want to be normal when we can be SuperNatural!
I am so thankful my body is to the place where I have no cravings for bread or sweets. My battle – or challenge – will be to remember to say 'no' from here on, since that one first bite makes me go literally insane. Give me one cookie, I'll eat the whole package unless I get sick first! Another thing I learned at Overeaters Anonymous is that I am not like other 'normal' people. I cannot eat whatever I want. That one was hard, but I think now I'm accepting it.
